BEYOND FISH ARCADE GAMES – FUN FACTS ABOUT ARCADE GAMES

“The Fish Game,” as it is succinctly referred to by some, is a fish shooting game played all around the country at venues like adult arcades, amusement parks, gas stations, convenience stores, Dave & Busters, skill game rooms, sweepstakes cafes, Chuck E Cheese, restaurants, grocery stores, bars, bowling alleys, laundromats, truck stops, smoke shops, bars, and still other kinds of establishments!

These fish arcade games are the hottest new skill arcade to hit the country in a long time, as they originally became popular in Asia. What makes these games so addictive? It’s all about the gameplay. The controls are simple, the objectives skill-based, and players compete on an even playing field, which makes the competition with your neighbors as fierce as can be.

Fish game cabinets, like the ones you can purchase for an affordable price from us here at Fish Game Kings, are equipped with a 55-inch LED monitor, bill-feeders, anti-cheat alarm systems from FGK, and features 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10-player units. What makes the games so exhilarating is that players use real money to buy firepower, creating a revenue-based arms race in the process — the more cash players invest, the more ammunition they’ll have to capture fish characters and earn winnings!

ARCADE AND VIDEO GAME FACTS

We are going to take the bulk of today’s post to change gears a little bit, so rather than the typical shining of the proverbial spotlight upon various aspects of Fish Game Kings and fish arcade games more generally speaking, we are going to offer our readers some random and (in our opinion) interesting facts about arcade and video games! So read on if you want to get your nerd on!

  • Let’s start off with a bang. Did you know that the very first multi-user video game was invented in 1958? That’s before we walked on the moon, by a long shot, because that happened in 1969, if you cared to know. In 1958, William Higinbotham, who was a nuclear physicist from Brookhaven National Laboratory, invented the multi-player arcade machine, of sorts, titled Tennis for Two. We’ve never played that game, but we’d like to, if there is still one or two floating around…
  • A decade and a year before William Higinbotham, however, were Estle Ray Mann and Thomas T. Goldsmith Jr., the two that created the very first analog interactive electronic game, titled Missile Simulator.
  • In between the two games mentioned above were invented a few different computer games. Among them were the first chess-playing computer game, written by Dr. Dietrich Prinz, the first computer game that used a digital graphical display, called OXO by Alexander S. Douglas (a tic-tac-toe game), along with a few others.
  • Just accept right now that we aren’t going to be going in chronological order, and you’ll enjoy this post a whole lot more. That being said, did you know that Pac-Man is almost 40 years old?! Here’s a few of our favorite Pac-Man factoids. Pac-Man, whose original name was going to be Puck-Man, had its trademark appearance and shape inspired by a partially-eaten pizza pie. It also was a game created for girls, because the arcade industry was largely dominated by males. We aren’t sure what aspects of the game were geared towards females, but we suppose that’s a can of worms best left unopened. Our final Pac-Man fact is that the ghosts in Pac-Man have names (most people know that) — but significantly less-well-known is this: the ghosts all have unique personalities and tactics with reference to how they try to hunt down Pac-Man. In case you are looking for some tips, Inky uses ambush tactics, Clyde behaves randomly, and Blinky and Pinky chase you down directly.
  • Mario was originally supposed to carry a gun. Again…not our can of worms to open.
  • Shifting gears a bit…arcade video games are significantly more expensive to play in Japan. The average game costs about 100 yen per play, which is just under a $.90. However, most people say that the difficulty levels are generally less intense in Japan, so that makes your average play last that much longer.
  • While we are talking about Japanese arcades, it’s a sad thing to say but they are dying out a bit in what was always known as an arcade haven of sorts. Arcades are closing down here and there, with not many new games being added to the ones that are still in business. This is largely due to the fact that the console market reigns supreme, just like here in the United States. However, console games can’t offer the stimulating and competitive experience that Fish shooting games can, so we think everyone should keep that in mind before pronouncing arcades as well and truly of a bygone era.
  • The most popular video games of the 80s were Missile Command, Pac-man, Rally-X, Time Pilot, Tron, Star Wars, Paperboy, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Galaga, Ms. Pac-Man, Centipede, Battlezone, Moon patrol, Qix, Gorf, Burgertime, Dig Dug, Donkey Kong Journey, Mappy, Gyruss, Tapper, and 1942, listed in no particular order!
